I don't know how I feel about this. (I welcome civil discussion on this matter, just fyi.) On one hand, several people got wounded and hurt on the direct result of his actions, but at the same time the President's Comments made it nearly impossible for a free trial...

As a soldier in the US army infantry. There is no excuse to abandon your post. If his unit was as messed up as he said it was, there are other actions that he could have taken. IG for starters. He could have even wrote letters to his congressman, believe it or not. politicians have a lot of pull when it comes to certain things involving soldiers and how they are being treated.
Fact of the matter is, Soldiers died searching for him. He is a COWARD!!!!!!! He abandoned his fellow soldiers and ultimately caused the death of 6 soldiers as a direct result. The fact that he got no prison time and is appealing his dishonorable discharge is a slap in the face to those that lost their lives and were wounded searching for him.
So yes the President made some idiotic comments, however they were what most soldiers were thinking about him anyways. With that aside, what about the comments Bergdahl said? "The Taliban treated him better than the US did?" Did everyone forget about the emails sent back and forth from his dad and the Taliban? Did anyone forget about the base that got attacked shortly after he got "captured"? not to mention, he did look pretty well taken care of after 5 years of being "captured".
Just my opinion, what do you guys think?
