#1201 Happy Holidays from the 173rd!

Posted by 2LT J.Gardner on 20 December 2017 - 09:40 PM

Happy Holiday's from the 173rd Airborne Brigade!

The 173rd Airborne Brigade wishes you all a Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, and a Happy New Year.

This is the time of year for reflection; for realizing what experiences we've had this year, what firefights we've endured, and what goals we've overcome and surpassed. This gives us the end of the year to unwind from the stress, and relax around family and friends. Let's move forth this Holiday season in reflection so that we may make the best of the next year to come.

Here's to the next year, a year of joyous memories and strengthened friendships.

#1352 Zeus fill-ins and other ideas

Posted by M.Morozov on 13 January 2018 - 01:40 AM

Just tossing ideas out for public scrutiny...

1. My idea was that certain NCOs, reserves, or bored pilots could fill in as zeus and control units such as snipers, civilians, suicide bombers, etc in order to add a higher level of danger and realism to training's and ops. Don't push it to a point when the op can be failed by one guy who decides to go Rambo and drop a million AI or IEDs on us.

2. Practicing town and base defense drills: We could practice town and base defense with multiple waves, mortar / artillery strikes, etc with multiple perimeters set to fall back to in case if we face being over-run. Set up time limits that we must hold until extraction or casualty limits until failure.

3. HVT escorts: I imagine that Rangers would never be tasked specifically with protecting an HVT for an entire mission but this can fit with #1. Capture a HVT such as an enemy officer played by Zeus and escort him to safety with AI fighting to get their man back. Other players can role-play as enemies which will actively try to free the HVT.

4. When we grow beyond 1 platoon, I was wondering if we could have MBTs, or fixed-wing CAS for more dynamic combined arms operations. Of course, we are mostly a light infantry unit but I don't see the harm in doing it for fun post-practice or post-op.

5. I would like to see a secondary MOS system if we lack pilots, NCOs, RTOs, or other essential personnel. This can serve a dual-purpose if people would like to try different roles if they are currently bored with theirs. This issue occurred when there were no pilots present by the end of practice on the 12th.

6. Last one, and probably the most controversial / borderline retarded: For the sake of leadership training in the unit and preparation for a break down in the leadership structure if multiple NCOs are casualties during ops, I would like a practice or two per month where the rank structure is reversed and non-NCOs attempt to run an op. Current TLs and SLs can give advice on how to give orders, pass along information to higher ranked players, and complete missions with as few casualties as possible.

Please leave any comments, complaints, or concerns below. I'm just tossing out ideas and would love to hear some feedback. I would like to see some of these implemented and with the right incorporation, would create and more fun and dynamic environment for the 32nd Rangers.

#1560 HuntIR For Grenadier

Posted by J.Maff on 01 February 2018 - 06:00 PM

First of what is HuntIR? It is a M320 Launched round Weighing .4 pounds each. It requires a HuntIR Monitor which weighs 2 Pounds. Anyone who has a monitor can connect to the round. It is a parachuted camera that is controlled by wind but you can also use the arrow keys to control where it is pointed at. This will help in situations where we have no recon/ eyes in the sky and need to breach an open compound. It also has night vision and can zoom up to 8x using A and D. From what i heard and seen we are moving towards more CQB oriented gamplay and this would help massively towards saving lives and time if we need to say search a town for a group of enemies or if a compound is not on the map we can get the layout.

The Next Issue i could see is Weight, so lets use the rifleman loadout as our max at 69.07 lb we could stay under this. The current Grenadier is 62.82 lb we could add 5 Hunt Rounds and a monitor and still only be at 66.82 lb.

A team lead is currently at 66.47 lb add the 2 pounds for the monitor it comes out to 68.47 lb allowing for half a pound of extra equipment while still be only as heavy as a rifleman,

and finally the last person to theoretically need one a squad lead is currently at 66.11 lb adding the 2 for the monitor it comes out to 68.11 lb still allowing for almost a pound for accessories again.

All these Weights came straight from the training servers scroll menu loadouts.

If anyone has any questions on why would we add this or any other concerns drop it and i will try to add this.

#1400 what are the reserves

Posted by P.Ares on 15 January 2018 - 03:37 PM

1) H&M is completely voluntary. I'd argue 1 training, 1 mission per month.

2) Yes,

3) Strikes should be given, however, upon review removed after a counseling with Reserve Detachment Commander. Simply to stress uniformity and keep the burden of attendance on the Ranger.

4) Stay in reserve component. They can attend any training they have time for. Time constraints are the reason they're reserve, don't limit it any more than necessary.

Addition: Cannot GAIN rank past Specialist. PVT - SPC requirements stay the same. Promotions freeze upon reaching SPC until returning to full time active status.

We won't punish you for being reservist, but we won't reward you either.

#1295 The standards in this unit...

Posted by RET R.Bates on 07 January 2018 - 06:47 PM

Just in from Payne and Church.... starting immediately osut will include our run from the base to point victory. Only the best and strongest will complete this and become victorious thus earning their scroll. This mod would ensure all of our privates are safe. (Fake news)

Posted by Jedii on 07 January 2018 - 04:58 PM

Listen up.

The standards in this unit have fallen to shit. You guys haven't done PT in months! MONTHS.Ranger the fuck up guys! I demand that the unit brings back its former glory and that the physical readiness of all soldiers is increased ten-fold.

My suggestion is that we add this mod for the sake of combat readiness. I'm Sure SFC Payne  and 1LT Church would agree.

As you can see, this mod allows you rangers to PT in a safe and productive manor. You will not get lost. You WILL PT everyday.

#1255 A.D.V - CPR

Posted by C.Saldat on 01 January 2018 - 09:30 PM

"Giving you a second chance if your everyday CPR doesn't do squat." - Belbo(mod author)

The ACE 3 advanced medical system provides a more complex and detailed medical simulation and is based off the 'CSE CMS'.

It focuses on a more realistic model for injuries and treatments, thus resulting in a more important and prominent role for combat medics, and a bigger incentive to avoid getting shot.

The system behind advanced medical is designed to attempt to mimic important parts of the human body, as well as react to any injuries sustained and treatments applied in a realistic manner.

Ever since the release of ACE 3 medical system, there has been a included module known as the 'Revive Module'.

How this system works:

  • A unit in the revive state will be unconscious and will stay unconscious until it is either woken up or the revive timer runs out.
  • Each successful CPR will increase the time the unit can stay in the revive state.
  • To wake up a patient the use of a PAK is required. -This is important !

There are some problems with this system.

1. CPR practically does nothing as long as your patient has no pulse (i.e. is in the revive state).

2. You would need to use a Personal Aid Kit to revive your patient, which isn't very realistic.

3. Using a PAK to revive resets all of the players health variables back to their start values - practically doing a magical heal with the magical wand called PAK.

INTRODUCING-> ADV ACE3 CPR (adv is the mod makers nametag, NOT an abbreviation for advanced)

With Adv Ace3 CPR  you can finally use CPR to get someone out of the revive state without healing him completely, making gameplay much more interesting.

After successfully "stabilizing"(using CPR or the new defibrillator) a  the patient, he/she will have a basic pulse of at least 30bpm.

ACE-doctors have a 40% success rate and ACE-medics have a 15% success rate.

Regular riflemen can resuscitate a patient, but they will have a much lower success rate. They can still keep the patient from dying due to an expired revive timer though.

The success rate is lowered if the patient looses blood and is raised if the patient received Epinephrine right before CPR. The minimum rate is always 2% - except if resuscitation has been disabled for regular riflemen.

NEW medical item: The defibrillator

This works almost like the CPR action, but you have to have a defibrillator in your inventory and it's much faster and the success rate is way higher.

You can only use the defibrillator if you're a medic or doctor.

On to PRO's and CON's

+ More realistic medical system

+ No more magical PAK wand

+ Medics will have to conduct primary and secondary medical care

+ Regular infantry will actually be contributing to resuscitating fallen teammates as well as extending the revive timer

+ PAK's can still be set to be used in base

+ Working defibrillator model with sounds

+ No known bugs

+ Compatible with the current ACE3 v3.12

+ Plug and play installation

- Retraining medics to familiarize with the new CPR system and use of the defibrillator

- Retraining regular infantry to familiarize with the new CPR system

- Update standard operation procedures and practices

- Update training manuals

- Possible incompatibility with upcoming ACE3 updates due to this third party addition

- Possible obsolescence with the upcoming ACE medical rewrite, although this rewrite has been in the works since LAST January(there are rumors that this might be included in the rewrite anyway)

- Another mod to keep track

Honestly, probably too much bloat. Throw the old 32nd beret back in the arsenal, run the uniform sterile, and call it a day.

#209 20170920 Debrief

Posted by RET R.Sharp on 20 September 2017 - 10:01 PM

the following is an After Action Report for full throttle mission that took place on 2017-09-20

# of 32nd Ranger units in attendance: 11

# of 72nd Airborne units in attendance: 6

Total number of units in attendance: 17

Overview of missions conducted:

- conduct mounted and dismounted patrols (completed)

- locate and eliminate two weapon caches ( 1/2 destroyed)

- react to indirect fire (completed)

- assault mortar position (not completed)

- comms were clean, clear, and precise

- units maintained formation and conducted room clearing from a mounted start

- air assets were requested and utilized efficiently and effectively

- units spent too much time at defensive position

- once contacted, units spent too much time in the kill zone

- units were left in a firefight after a retreat was called, then were later picked up

Bugs, issues, etc:

- Zeus crashed on multiple occasions while looking in map and building missions

- units became uneditable while in zeus, ( problem was resolved)

- server doesn't show up on search list, players needed to direct connect

- gates continue to decapitate allied vehicles

personal comments:

I feel that the units that were on did an excellent job adjusting to an environment without leadership present. online members of the command staff, squad leaders, and pilot staff quickly decided what map to operate on ( full throttle wasn't showing up but we did use the mission on the operations server). after a while we were ready to operate and everyone was able to accomplish their missions effectively. we can get better in a few aspects but overall I am impressed.

#198 Recruitment Ideas

Posted by RET R.Sharp on 16 September 2017 - 02:46 PM

there is always room to improve and always slots that need to be filled. you don't need to be a recruiter to spread the good name of the 32nd Rangers. what are your guys' ideas to increase the amount of troops in our rosters? what do you think we should do to get as many people interested in what we have to offer?

some of the steps we are taking right now are

- pub nights

- arma clans

- liberation and insurgency missions

Ideas that are in the works

- pvp days

- specialized missions ( both modded and non-modded)

- social media
